We're looking for a talented, enthusiastic engineer to join our full-stack development team. You will play a key role in the future of Zendesk’s products, impacting and influencing our SDKs for iOS, Android and Unity as well as our Zendesk apps and our Web Widget - all products used by millions of people and some of the biggest brands in the world!
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Be part of a team of dedicated, passionate, and humble engineers who own their products and share a vision for what they build.
Actively participate in coding, pair programming, reviewing pull requests and testing as well as team meetings - be prepared to add your voice to the team’s and bring your perspective and knowledge to the discussion.
Engage in the development life-cycle including conception, design, implementation, testing, rollout and making everything run efficiently in production.
Participate in technical discussions and communicate your ideas or vision to others. You thrive in dealing with sophisticated problems, open to debates and brainstormings.
Proactively contribute to improving our infrastructure, code, and processes.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
Understanding and familiarity with crafting and working with backend technologies.
A proven understanding of Ruby.
Experience with Ruby on Rails.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You can effectively express your point of view to others and just as importantly, actively listen to others ensuring a good discussion. You can break down and document complex work for other engineers to complete.
Comfortable with debugging applications in a data-rich environment. (Datadog, Sentry etc)
Practical, hands-on expertise in self-managing your work. Collecting and deconstructing requirements, and subsequently generating tasks or stories.
Ambition and high motivation to understand complex systems, focused on identifying and decomposing requirements.
A hunger to work on a huge existing code base and improve it.
Comfortable with picking up new technologies and languages.
NICE TO HAVE
Experience in relational database management systems and SQL.
Understanding of SLIs, SLOs & error budgets.
Experience with Scala.
Have worked with cloud services (AWS, GCP, etc) in the past.
Experience working with Datadog.
Knowledge of Jira.
